The 100 Year History of Korean Pop Music Exhibition

This exhibition is the main exhibition of the K-POP Museum and Korea’s first pop music space that exhibits original, rare, and hit music albums embracing the era of Emperor Gojong in the 1900s or the dawning period of K-POP, August 15 liberation from the Japanese colonialism, Korean War, industrialization, democratization, and the 2000s when K-POP made a global hit. This exhibition offers a service for visitors to appreciate K-POP music from different eras using tablet devices.

Edison Sound Science Exhibition

This exhibition presents the world’s first tinfoil phonograph invented by an American inventor named Edison in 1877, music boxes, organs, rare phonographs, and home phonographs that were distributed before domestic audio systems. Visitors can watch the development process of phonographs to understand how they contributed to the advancement of pop music and take a look at phonographs from different eras.

The 100 Year History of Sound Art Science Exhibition

Edison invented the phonograph in 1877, and the world’s first speaker used in the silent movie era of the 1920s was made by Western Electric. This exhibition has global speakers and amps like Altec, Jensen, JBL, Tannoy of England, Kangfilm of Germany, high-end Grand Slam, Avantgarde, and Goldmund, Korea’s first radio, first television, and first record player. Visitors can request music to be played by rare speakers for appreciation.

OST Soundtrack Exhibition

K-POP music and original soundtracks (OST) of films formed an intimate relationship. K-POP songs that made a hit in the difficult times were turned into OST albums by producing films. K-POP and movies have grown together, and theme songs of movies began to become more widespread. This exhibition presents original rare OST albums and related materials, such as movie posters, scripts, and videotapes. Visitors can appreciate OST songs using tablet devices.

Singer's Collection(Costume) Exhibition

This space exhibits stage costumes worn by many pop singers loved by people, guitars, awards, and trophies. There are various collections of the most influential singers, including clothes and guitars of Han Dae-Soo, Peter Pan costume of Yoon Bok-Hee, glitter shoes of Hyun Mee, guitars of Choi Sung-Su, clothes of Nam Jin, clothes of Tae Jin-Ah, and guitars of Boohwal’s Kim Tae-Won. Other kinds of exhibits include trophies and related goods.

The Hymn of Death Exhibition

The Hymn of Death was the very first K-POP album that recorded the highest sales volume at the time. Only a few copies of the original album remain, including the early copies printed with a typing error. This special exhibition also has various remake albums sung by different singers and stories of Yun Sim-Deok.

BTS Donation Exhibition

After members of BTS visited the museum, fans started donating many exhibits. This special exhibition was made with early albums of BTS, latest albums, solo albums, goods, magazines containing an article about BTS, and signed stage clothes donated.

Children's Animation Theme Hall

The Animation Theme Hall on the basement floor is a space that restores the memory of our old animation heroes like Mazinger Z, Robot Taekwon V, Atom, and Galaxy Express 999. Exhibits include action figures, posters, goods, and toys. There are donated pianos and foot pianos on one side of the hall, offering an exciting experience appropriate for the Animation Theme Hall.

In Music, and Connecting Exhibition

This exhibition was a part of the modern and contemporary history cooperation network project of 2020. It has reproduced four timely backgrounds of K-POP music. Visitors can understand different time periods by taking photos, learning about K-POP music in the modern and contemporary history that continued for 100 years. After the planned exhibition in 2020, this exhibition was rearranged into a photo zone.

Golden Disc Exhibition Hall

This special exhibition hall introduces famous musicians around the world on stairways that lead from the third floor to the basement floor. Golden discs of musicians are exhibited. Similar to the main exhibition hall on the second floor, this hall allows visitors to listen to music.
